View-Master is the trademark name of a line of special-format stereoscopes and corresponding View-Master film "reels" that were first introduced in 1939 by Sawyer's . Then, after almost three decades in business, Sawyer's was acquired in 1966 by the General
Aniline & Film (GAF) Corporation . Under GAF's ownership, View-Master "reels" began to feature fewer scenic and more
child-friendly subjects, such as toys and cartoons. It should be noted that the "reels" are thin cardboard disks
containing small transparent
color photographs on film. More specifically, each reel holds fourteen (14) film transparencies in
seven pairs, making up the seven stereoscopic images. The components of each
pair are viewed simultaneously, one by each eye, thus simulating binocular
depth perception. Please note that the three (3) View-Master "reels" included in this offering are: Reel 1 PINOCCHIO "Comes to Life" (Item # B 3151) Reel 2 LADY and the TRAMP (Item # B 3152) Reel 3 SNOW WHITE and THE SEVEN DWARFS (Item # B 3153)
