An estate sale find that’d been in climate-controlled storage since the mid 70’s.
Does it work? Well, sort of…
As expected, it powers up. Although I guessed the drive belts would long gone, all tape transport functions operate! However, there is a rubbing noise when the motor is engaged; it is likely in need of a good tear-down and lubrication.
The left reel does not clamp down firmly to the table, so the holder will need repaired/ replaced/ rigged. Mindful of these issues and not wanting to risk damage, I elected to do no further testing and am offering it as an “as-is”, project. But wow, what a great start!
Cosmetically, it’s nearly perfect, and the original box and Styrofoam are a nice bonus. You’ll get everything pictured. Since the original box is likewise a collector’s item, the machine will be securely outer-boxed for transport.
