This tape deck is in excellent condition all ways round. There are a few signs of use and a dent on black panel top - see last picture. A few bumps on the wood side panels but all and all super clean deck. There is a slight wobble on the left reel table. but this does not affect play, its noticeable on high speed wind with 10-inch reels - (see Video) - It was likely this way since new. This model of machine is straight forward and well built. And the sound for the $ and the ability to GO QUAD is unbeatable in my opinion. please see the video demonstration in the listing pictures . Recording is not shown in the video but all recording functions work as they should. This machine makes great recordings. I recorded several tapes with this machine on Maxell XL1 tape with excellent results. -The Video was taken the day I boxed it up
The deck has been serviced. I have been playing tapes on this machine for the past 2 weeks. All the functions work as they should. This is a straight forward well built machine I expect to last. There is wear on the heads but lots of life left. The wear is even and not ridged. Servicing includes:
Belts replaced
All electrical boards visually inspected
All pots and switches deoxit from the front and sides (with machine apart).
The pinch roller linkage removed and cleaned and all linkage lubricated and checked for smooth operation
Pinch roller is in excellent shape and was treated with TEAC Pinch roller conditioner.
The brakes cleaned and set up.
Reel tables adjusted for 7" reels
