Early Pflueger Light Saltwater Reel - Pre-Bulldog Logo!

Pflueger Trade Improved Round Multiplying Reel, for H. A. Whittemore Pflueger Model No. 2017, nickel-plated brass and hard rubber with sliding click and drag on the tailplate. This is the 200-yard size for the reel. It has light plating wear on the tailplate rim and the top of the foot. “£ TRADE MARK” is stamped on the faceplate disk, denoting that this reel was part of H.A. Whittemore's "Sterling" line of fishing tackle. Based on this stamping and the reel features, the reel was manufactured by Pflueger for H A Whittemore, the owner of one of the largest fishing retail businesses, between 1909 and 1914.
