BUNDLE: Pair (2) Vintage Martin Classic MC56 Fly Fishing Reels On Tuff-Lite 2-pc Rods---
I purchased this set of fly rods from the downsizing sale of an elderly couple. The father had originally bought the equipment for a set of twins (boy and girl) who wanted to learn fly fishing years ago. The family lived on a SC farm close to a river and streams. He considered the equipment ideal for their horseback and backpacking outings. These vintage reels and graphite rods were transformed by the young owners to use in their crappie honey hole but the basic components for old time manual fly fishing are still present.This offering is old but worked then and will work now. The overall (fully extended) length is 9' 6". In it's shortened state (top inside the bottom rod) it measures 62 ". The upper portion has two line eyes and 1 tip. The reel is a Martin Classic made by the Martin Reel Co in the USA. It is dressed only with nylon line. The reel is held in place by a copper ring and a nylon tie. The tip fits loosely on the rod and needs to be cemented to the upper portion OR the rod shortened until the tip fits. The reel clicks when the line is pulled out and the drag is turned as low as it can go. (I'm not sure how it's supposed to work on this type of fly reel.) The drag can be set to stop reeling and that works. Rod and Reel Marked B:
The overall (fully extended) length is 9' 5". Assuming the rods were identical at manufacture it has been broken or cut off. In it's shortened state (top inside the bottom rod) it measures 62 ". The upper portion has two line eyes and NO tip.(You will need to find one and add it to fit the rod.) The reel is a Martin Classic made by the Martin Reel Co in the USA and is identical to Reel A. It also is dressed only with nylon line. The reel is also held in place by a copper ring and a nylon tie. The tip fits loosely on the rod and needs to be cemented to the upper portion OR the rod shortened until the tip fits. The reel clicks when the line is pulled out and the drag is turned as low as it can go. (I'm not sure how it's supposed to work on this type of fly reel). The drag can be set to stop reeling but it DOES NOT COMPLETELY HALT THE REEL IN. ALSO INCLUDED:
I have also included something from another estate. It is a Danielson 14 x 9 in. snap open fish and bait pouch which is loaded with artificial small fly and cast baits. (All pictures are of the same baits There are about 15 total)
NOTE: For clarification the rods do not pull apart completely. The upper rod simply slides down inside the barrel of the lower rod. The tip and top guide rings dangle on the string while you move to the next fishing spot.
