AKAI M-8 M8 Cross Field Stereo Reel-to-Reel Dual VINTAGE TUBE AMP

let me start off with the good. player is in very nice physical condition, has the cover, a take up reel and rubber reel locks. i played a tape on the player. it seems to play fine, and ffw and rew both work well also. all lights seem to work, and the meters operate normal. speakers sound muffled, tone controls help a bit, but i think the heads need a good cleaning.
bad news. both amps work, volume pots were very noisy. they both cleared up with 20 turns or so. the tone controls were a different story. tone controls are just a ring, and much harder to turn fast to clean the pots. the lower amp was much worse, so i slid the amp out a bit and treated the pot with deoxit. this cleared it up 90-95% still has a bit of crackle now and then. the pinch roller is shedding, but still seems to work fine. i would probably recap the amps and re-clean pots, and replace the pinch roller before daily use.
this is a vintage piece, and is sold as is for parts or repair.
